Interview with Dr. Gober

The interview with Doctor Gober today reminded me and others of the importance of the actual day we celebrate our veterans. I was reminded of the eleventh month, the eleventh day, and the eleventh hour. I don't think I will forget again.

Our conversation revolved around military and medicine, family and compassion. In the end this is what we celebrate this weekend anyway. We acknowledge our veterans for sacrificing in order for us to never have to sacrifice.

I thank Dr. Gober for his contribution to the stories that come to our attention during this "holiday". I sometimes forget in the comfort of this country that someone is cold, someone is hurting, someone is giving of every internal and external strength they can muster to help me live in a world where it is made easy to sometimes get a little too comfortable.

I know my family does not read this blog, but just in case....Daddy, thank you for your service to our country and I thank God you made it home to start your family and provide me with a great life.

Dr. Gober, I hope your family can say the same to you.

Thank you to all veterans. Tonight I sleep safe and content under your blanket of freedom.
